LHS band continues to shine

12 Lorena students competed in the UIL Instrumental Solo & Ensemble contest. Eight received a first division rating which is the highest rating that can be achieved at the contest. Five of those eight students met the criteria to advance to state.

Gabriana Diaz, Charlotte Schrader, Cameron Hesse, Jacob Eaton and Ashira Fronk all advanced to state and will perform at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest on May 27 at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville.

The High School Varsity Concert band took part in the U.I.L. Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. The Leopards received a first division Superior rating for the stage and sight reading portions of their evaluation. Those results combined with the first division Superior ratings received during the marching season means the Leopard band earned the UIL Sweepstakes award, which is given to programs that achieve a first division in  marching, concert, and sight reading. Those are the three major areas for a band evaluation.
