Five Leopard football players were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A All-State Team. Running Back Braylon Henry, and Offensive Lineman Wyatt Jones were named to the All-State First Team. Tight End Brock Kuhl, and Offensive Lineman Carter Norman were Second Team selections. Defensive End Seth Taverner was named Honorable Mention All-State.
Henry rushed for 2,389 yards, and 42 touchdowns in the 2023 season. His 42 rushing touchdowns set a new school record for rushing touchdowns in a season breaking the old mark of 41 held by his father John Henry.
Jones finished the 2023 campaign with 58 pancake blocks, and one rushing touchdown. During his Leopard career Jones was a four year starter on the offensive line.
Kuhl has 28 receptions for 520 yards. He led the Leopards in receiving touchdowns with eight. Kuhl also recorded 38 pancakes.
Norman was another key to the Leopards’ successful running attack during the 2023 season. He finished the year with 67 pancakes.
Taverner recorded 21 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks and 27 hurries.
The Leopard finished the 2023 season with an 11-3 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 3A Division 1 playoffs.
